Photography Research Centre CVF Website Launched
The CVF – Photography Research Centre – has launched a new blog! It is in line with our efforts to become a platform for interdisciplinary research in the Czech Republic with the phenomenon of photography as a common denominator. Although photography has been associated with all areas of human life as well as with all scientific disciplines for almost 180 years, in the Czech milieu it is often subject to exploration and interpretation only within projects limited in scope to an industry, institution, theme, or region. We believe that thanks to the collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines and institutions which is crucial for us we will succeed in overcoming these barriers.
One of our key objectives is to establish strong international relations within the academic and professional field. The first event that CVF organizes is the international conference Photo: Science / Photography and Scientific Discourses (30 November – 2 December 2020), followed by a research project – Photo Album – centred on anthropological approaches towards the medium.
The Photography Research Centre was officially established on 1 March 2018; it is part of a long-term development concept of the Institute of Art History of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
